CAPSTAANG WEEK, DAY FOUR:
15/7 IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE CUZ IT KNOCKS YOU OFF YOUR FEET Can you feel it, see it, hear it today? If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway… You can touch it, smell it, taste it so sweet But it makes no difference ‘cuz it knocks you off your feet "Spirits, you're killing him!" Aang struggled to hear their conversation, beyond the raspy wheezing of his own labored breathing. The whole tree shook as the living vines wrapped coil after coil around his body, bits of bark falling as he found himself more and more entangled. Don't panic, whatever you do, he reminded himself hurriedly, gripping and pulling at the strangler's hold about his windpipe. Just remember what Roku told you, about the-- "AANG!" Toph's voice rose to an unprecedented shriek, and he twisted in time to see Koh pounce (like a spider on its prey) and start to drag her, forcibly and inexorably, underground. ...So much for not panicking. You want it all but you can't have it It's in your face but you can't grab it Fingers scrabbling wildly in the dirt, Toph finally came across a thick root and latched onto it desperately. The monstrous whatever-it-was gave an annoyed snarl and tugged at her, legs clamped tight around her body like industrial-strength pincers. Nevertheless she held on, caught between blind fear and sheer adrenaline-fueled fury. Twinkletoes... WHAT HAD HE BEEN THINKING?! It was the Spirit World, and neither of them could bend. Maybe he'd forgotten to mention it... either way, it was a fatal move. I can't let him die! she thought angrily, grabbing a leg and ripping it away from the main body with brutal force. The thing HOWLED. Then it convulsed inward, curling even tighter until Toph felt almost like she was being folded into thirds. Joints creaked and bent the wrong way, and she bit her lip until it bled. We're not going to die here. We CAN'T die here. The detached limb twitched in her hand, and she gripped it tighter, forcing herself to ignore both the creature's pain-addled keening and her own churning nausea. I WON'T ALLOW IT. It's alive, afraid, a lie, a sin It's magic, it's tragic, it's a loss, it's a win It's dark, it's moist, it's a bitter pain It's sad it happened and it's a shame What is it? It's it What is it?... --- FIN. Koh looks really, really creepy. I think he's too small in comparison to the kids, but creepy, nonetheless. I love how you drew his legs. Nice job on the angle of Aang's head, too -- that's a hard position to draw. Still, the vines around his neck don't look very tight. o3o
